Breaks down 99% of harmful formaldehyde
Simply adding 1-3% of "Fomtorl" to paints containing formaldehyde, a major cause of "sick-house syndrome," absorbs and breaks down the harmful formaldehyde. Fomtorl can reduce airborne concentrations of formaldehyde to below 0.05 ppm, below the 0.08 ppm standard stipulated by the Building Standards Law. It also reduces levels of volatile organic compounds (VOC). With the availability of a wide range of additives for use with different types of paint, this product has won a warm reception as a solution for sick-house syndrome.
* We take steps to ensure that we offer the most effective form of Fomtorl available. We do this through laboratory tests that identify the specific composition of various customer products, based on product samples provided by the manufacturers. * Desiccator method (JISK5601-4-1:2003) can be used to obtain data on F☆☆☆☆.
Formaldehyde reduction evaluations for paint containing Fomtorl (measured at Kanagawa Industrial Technology Center)
Samples of paint containing Fomtorl and a competitor's functional paint product were tested as shown below after curing for periods of one week and one month.
Formaldehyde reduction in paint containing Fomtorl and competitor A's environmentally-friendly functional paint (Sanken No. 109-0030) (Initial concentration 7.4 ppm, temperature 20℃, relative humidity 50%). Tested April 2002.
Test of formaldehyde reductions in living environments
A total of four paint samples (100 mm x 100 mm each), two cured for one week and the other two for one month, were sealed in four 11-liter desiccators, each injected with formaldehyde at a concentration of approximately 7.4 ppm. Formaldehyde levels were then assessed at 1, 4, 8, and 24 hours thereafter. As shown in the above graph, the paint samples (cured 1 week and 1 month) containing Fomtorl reduced formaldehyde levels faster than the competing functional paint.
Tested according to protocol recommended by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry
On September 21, 2007, on the recommendation of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, the Japan Paint Inspection and Testing Association (JPIA) performed tests to assess the efficacy of Fomtorl when used with the most common alkyd resin contained in paints emitting formaldehyde. The results caught the eye of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. Evaluations (Test report) to assess effectiveness in removing formaldehyde demonstrated efficacy rated at F☆☆☆☆. Additionally, Fomtorl continued to remove formaldehyde from the living environment even after painting. (Tested August 2007.)
Alkyd resin paint containing 3% Fomtorl and untreated alkyd resin paint were tested as shown below.
Test of reductions in alkyd resin formaldehyde emissions
Test to assess reductions in formaldehyde emissions
Formaldehyde emissions were measured in accordance with JIS standards (JIS K 5601-4-1:2003) after 1 day, 7 days, and 21 days. All measurements were performed twice and the average of the two values used.
As shown in the above graph, formaldehyde was undetectable for the paint sample containing Fomtorl after 1 day, whereas the untreated sample gave readings of 0.36 mg/L. Levels for the untreated sample did not decline to the F☆☆☆☆ level of 0.12 mg/L even after 7 or 21 days, while the sample containing Fomtorl consistently achieved levels of 0.08 mg/L, below the stipulated 0.12 mg/L.

Used by leading manufacturers
Suitable for a wide range of products
AMC Technology's "Fomtorl" formaldehyde removal agent can be used with a wide range of resins, as shown by the following data. (The data given here in many cases includes data for Fomtorl types already in commercial use by major paint manufacturers.) Fomtorl is currently used by more than two-thirds of paint manufacturers whose shares are publicly listed. Fomtorl has also been tested by many other paint manufacturers, with highly positive results. Research is already underway on resin-based paints and adhesives other than those listed below. Based on projected sales to the manufacturers indicated above, we remain fully confident in the unrivaled performance offered by Fomtorl.
AMC Technology products are individually developed for each customer to offer the optimal version of Fomtorl for a given product, based on samples provided by the manufacturer. We offer formaldehyde removal agents that function as near-perfect matches for specific customer products.
